5) Where Does The Carbonation Come From?
Carbonated drinks are created when a carbonation process creates pressure within them. This is accomplished by mixing a highly pressurized gas with a liquid. The most common gases used for carbonation include carbon dioxide (CO2), but nitrous oxide (N2O) and other gases are also sometimes used. Carbonated drinks are made in tanks that use these gases and liquids to create pressure.
6) Picking The Right Bottle and Cap
There are two main types of seltzer bottle caps: twist-off and pressurized. Pressurized bottles use CO2 (carbon dioxide) or nitrogen gas to create pressure and carbonation. These bottles can hold up to 70 grams of CO2 under very high pressure and in some cases have an indicator on them that will show when they’re running low on carbonation. These tend to be pricier than other options.
